Oranges by Robert Blackwell
| Oranges and Yogurt |
I will for always and ever think of Robert Blackwell's poem, "Oranges" whenever I eat one....
"Life happens,
Especially when
We make other plans.
A day is like an orange;
We squeeze moments and
Memories from each one
While worrying whether
Our glass is half-full or half-empty. "

Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories
Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories were staples when I was growing up. The red covers and the moral lessons still give me a slight thrill when I see a volume in a thrift store or book shop. Though I am not raising my girls with any specific faith, and thus have a hard time with the traditional Christian slant, the stories still hold charm and I find myself melting into the stories as I read them aloud to them at bedtime.
As an aside, I absolutely LOVE this blog post about the guilt inducing side of Arthur Maxwell's stories. Actually, the whole blog is a treasure. Absolutely hilarious!

Naptime Reading
I asked the girls to go play in their room while I rested (after canning 15 quarts of apples!) and this is what I found fifteen minutes later. Love!
